Postcards provide an effective, yet inexpensive, method to reach a large audience. A recommended size is 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″. This slightly oversized format is suggested because the large size stands out in the crowded direct mail environment, while meeting current mailing regulations. The examples below illustrate several design directions that work well in a postcard format. It is important that all postcards designed for university units follow all of the guidelines within the Iowa State University brand standards guidelines.
